Spoonbill Villa is only 2 miles from the beach in the photos below and getting there couldn’t be easier! 

When you leave Perico Bay Club turn left and cross the bridge onto Anna Maria Island.  Continue going straight and at the 2^nd stop light you will drive right into the parking lot of our favorite beach.    

In addition to the beach area itself, there is also a wonderful shaded picnic area.  You can arrive early and set up for the day as there is plenty of sun or shade, whichever you prefer. 

If you don’t feel like bringing along a picnic and/or drinks, Café on the Beach is located here as well.  They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.  Public restrooms are also available.

And, if some members of your group want to do some shopping they can hop onto the free Island Trolley for a few hours of exploring the island shops.

There are plenty of other beaches to choose from as well.  Anna Maria Island is a barrier island between the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay.  On the Gulf side there are 7 miles of beautiful white sand beaches, plus many smaller ones on the Bay side.

It's Sea Turtle Season.....................................

May through October is Sea Turtle Season and Anna Maria Island has it's share of Sea Turtle Nests.  Because Sea Turtles are endangered species they are protected by law.   Following are a few pictures we took in June 2008.

This is a nest that has been marked for protection.

This is a new nest just discovered.  It is marked with an orange flag until someone arrives to officially mark the nest.  Notice the trail in the sand, this is made by the Sea Turtle shell as she leaves and returns to the water.
