First of all, we’d like to thank you for taking the time to look at our website!  In addition to providing you with information on Spoonbill Villa and Perico Bay Club, we thought you might like to know some background on us as well.

We purchased Spoonbill Villa in May 2007, after several years of traveling around Florida on our winter vacations and looking for an area we’d eventually like to retire in.  And of course, we had some set criteria in mind too.

1.     We wanted to be “near” the ocean, but not right on the ocean.  We love being able to walk the beach in the mornings and enjoy the sunsets in the evenings, but we’re not ones to spend lots of time at the beach during the day.  When it comes to swimming and relaxing in the sun we prefer going to the pool.

2.     Even though we don’t prefer to spend lots of time at the beach during the day we wanted to be near the ocean so that our children and their families could have the option of enjoying the sun, sand & surf if they wanted to when visiting.

3.     We wanted to be near major airports to make it easier for family and friends to visit.

Our preference has always been the Gulf Coast of Florida and when we first visited Anna Maria Island we immediately fell in love with the culture, beaches, etc.  Then, when we discovered Perico Bay Club and how close it is to the beach we knew immediately this was the location for us!

With the variety of activities available, Florida is both a “fun place to be” and a “busy place to be”.  Being at Perico Bay Club we have several options to choose from.

Turn left when leaving Perico Bay Club, cross the bridge and we’re on Anna Maria Island!

The miles and miles of white sand beaches are so pretty, and there are a variety of beaches to choose from.  For our early morning walks and/or watching the sunset we prefer the larger beaches.  But if we’re going to spend some time relaxing on the beach during the day we usually opt for the more quiet & relaxing atmosphere of the beach at the north end of the Anna Maria overlooking Tampa Bay.

Plus, there are a wide variety of activities to choose from on Anna Maria Island; great restaurants, shopping, boating, etc.

Turn right when leaving Perico Bay Club, cross the causeway and we’re in Bradenton which also offers a wide variety of activities such as golfing, shopping, great restaurants, etc.

The causeway that connects Bradenton & Perico Island is also very nice and offers yet another alternative, as there is a nice beach area on both sides of the road with picnic tables, trees for shade, etc.

We enjoy being busy and having such a large variety of activities to pick from, but we also enjoy peace & quiet and that is what we have at Spoonbill Villa.

Being a gated community, Perico Bay Club is a very quiet, relaxing & secure community.  As soon as we drive through the front gate the “busyness” is gone and we immediately feel ourselves start to relax.  It's a great place to be!

Until the time comes that we can retire and relocate to Spoonbill Villa, we’d like to offer others the opportunity to enjoy our vacation home as much as we do.  Having rented several places ourselves over the years, we experienced times where we felt the home could be better furnished and/or the furniture more comfortable.   In furnishing our Villa our goal has been to create an atmosphere that will make you feel comfortable, relaxed and “at home” from the minute you arrive!
